Hands On Sacramento
Hands On Sacramento (HOS), a program of the Community
Services Planning Council, organizes fun, one-time
group volunteer projects in partnership with
a variety of community organizations. Hands
On Sacramento’s flexible volunteering
is great for business groups and individuals
who want to get involved in their community.
There is no minimum commitment and projects
are planned during evenings and weekends to
fit busy schedules. By providing an alternative
to traditional volunteering, Hands On Sacramento
helps busy individuals, families, and business
groups find the time to connect to the community.
-
Singles In Service
Singles In Service is a project of Hands On
Sacramento for single volunteers to meet and
make a difference
in the Sacramento community. Hands On Sacramento
partners with local singles organizations
and non-profit agencies to coordinate fun,
monthly
service projects. Volunteers come from Davis
to Folsom, Roseville to Elk Grove and are
aged 20-65.
Annual Special Events:
-
CESAR (Communities Engaged in Service and Renewal)
Day
CESAR Day exemplifies Cesar Chavez’s values
of service to others, respect for the environment
and celebrating community. The service event
is planned each year in coordination with the
State of California’s 3rd Annual Cesar
Chavez Day of Service and Learning. Hands On
Sacramento and event sponsors hold this community
service event to celebrate and commemorate this
day. Past projects have included planting trees,
painting, mulching trees, and repairing wheelchair
access ramps to help beautify and improve public
areas, schools and museums. C.E.S.A.R. provides
an excellent opportunity for people to be involved
in their communities and to honor Chavez’s
life through the spirit of service.
Hands On Sacramento Day
Providing a thousand hours of community service
in just one day, the Hands On Sacramento Day
serv-A-Thon is HOS’s only fundraising event
of the year. A serv-a-thon is like a walk-a-thon,
only instead of walking participants will be
volunteering. Individual volunteers and volunteer
teams raise pledges to support their day of service
and enjoy an exciting day of fun, service and
community building. Hands On Sacramento volunteers,
as well as business, church, youth, and civic
groups participate in a variety of fun, group
service projects in and around Sacramento.
National Make-A-Difference Day
Hands On Sacramento partners with local businesses
to sponsor projects in honor of National-Make-A-Difference
Day. It is an opportunity for all volunteers
to give back to their communities in a fun,
practical and meaningful way.
